Dr. Harish Udasi, owner of Chitra Talkies, Amravati, passed away this morning (2nd July) at 7.55 in Amravati. He was 79. He had not been keeping well since quite some time and was in the ICU for the last few days. He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter, and their families. He will be cremated at the Hindu Smashan Sanstha in Amravati this evening. The funeral procession will leave the Udasis’ residence at 4 p.m.
Dr. Udasi was a leading and renowned surgeon. Cinema was his passion and he was a true lover of Hindi cinema. In spite of having a flourishing practice, it was only because of his love for cinema that he carried forward the legacy of his father, Motidas Udasi, who had started the cinema.
His Chitra Talkies had shut down several years ago as Dr. Udasi wanted to build a mall in its place, which would house a multiplex instead of the single-screen cinema.
