FILM DEAL BETWEEN INDIA, AUSTRALIA | 10 March, 2023

A new deal to encourage film shootings of Indian films in Australia and joint production ventures between the two countries is in the offing. Australian prime minister Anthony Albanese signalled the deal in Bombay on March 9 at the event to promote Australian tourism.

The terms of the audio-visual agreement were kept under wraps. “I’m pleased that our two governments have been working hard to bring our two film industries closer together,” Albanese said at the Tourism Australia event in Bombay, adding, “I look forward to seeing more India and Australia and co-productions on our screen soon, showcasing the best of both our cultures, landscapes and people.”
