The Bombay police arrested underworld gangster Chhota Shakeel’s brother-in-law, Arif Abubakar, who, with two estate consultants, duped film producer Sanjeev Dabholkar of Rs. 3.20 crore by offering him a plot of land for a film studio.
Dabholkar was looking for land in Film City, Bombay when he came in touch with estate consultants Salim Kasam Valla and Inteqam Alam Qureshi. The two consultants sold him a plot for Rs. 5 crore. At Arif’s behest, Sanjeev paid Valla and Inteqam Rs. 3 crore in 2021, but the documents were not transferred in his name. In January this year, the accused agreed to return Sanjeev Dabholkar’s money and towards this, gave him four cheques totally valued at Rs. 1.50 crore, which bounced. They then threatened Sanjeev in the name of Arif Abubakar.
