Students of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune staged a demonstration against I & B minister Anurag Thakur when he visited the FTII campus on 5th May. The students’ association said, their opposition was against the minister’s beliefs which had manifested through his statements provoking communal hatred. Students had gathered on the campus, holding placards which read ‘Minister of hate, you are not welcome’ and ‘We stand against the politics of hate’.

The agitating students alleged that while the minister met their representatives for a few minutes, their concerns were addressed “dismissively”. The students also said that a bureaucrat from the ministry threatened to cut the budget and privileges enjoyed by them, after witnessing demonstrations against Thakur on the FTII campus.
