Interglobe Developments, Omsuraj Production, Kingsmaker Entertainment and Amritsar Talkies’ Gabru Gang (UA) is the story of Rajbeer (Abhishek Duhan) and his gang of friends. They love kite-flying and make a big name for themselves in Punjab.
Sameer Khan has written a story and screenplay, which entertain in scenes of the sport and of friendship and brotherhood. However, the drama never really becomes so engrossing that it would excite the audience with edge-of-the -seat thrills. The pace drops in the second half although the climax is quite nice. Sameer Khan’s dialogues are okay.
Abhishek Duhan gives a good account of himself in the role of Rajbeer. Srishty Rode is so-so as Ginni. Abhilash Kumar lends fair support. Avtar Gill has his moments. Kanwalpreet Singh makes his presence felt. Brajesh Tiwari is alright. Arti Puri is okay. Mukesh Bhatt performs well. Priyanka Khera lends nice support. Rehaan Khan (as kid Rajbeer), Rajveer Saluja, Anshdeep Singh, Tejpal Manhas, Poonam Kalra, Vikram Dahiya and the rest are adequate.
Sameer Khan’s direction is ordinary. Music (by Usmaan Khan, Manj Musik, Abhinav R. Kaushik and Sandeep Nath) is fairly nice. Lyrics (Sameer Anjaan, Sandeep Nath, Neeraj Rajawat and Sonu Kambo) are okay. Song picturisations (by Mudassar Khan, Sharjil Khan and Reshma Khan) are functional. Amar Mohile’s background music helps in creating the right atmosphere. Sunil Patel and Shailesh Awasthi’s camerawork is nice. Murlidhar J. Sabat’s production designing is fair. Atit Jaideo’s editing should’ve been sharper.
On the whole, Gabru Gang is too ordinary to make any kind of mark at the turnstiles. It will go almost completely unnoticed.
Released on 26-4-’24 at Metro Inox (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay thru Panorama Studios. Publicity & opening: poor. …….Also released all over. Opening was dull everywhere.
