The government has proposed a Broadcasting Services (Regulation) Bill, 2023, to replace the existing Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995, which seeks to provide a consolidated framework to regulate broadcasting services including OTT content and digital news. The I & B ministry has sought feedback on the Bill from stakeholders, domain experts, broadcasting service providers and the general public over the next 30 days, after which it is likely to be introduced in the winter session of Parliament.
