‘HALGAT’ (MARATHI) REVIEW | 25 April, 2025

Released this week in Pune and other centres of Maharashtra thru BoxHit Movies, Karnan Films’ Halgat (Marathi; UA) is the story of two members of a gang. Bibtya (Mangesh Ranganath Kangne) is a rebel member of a looting gang led by the ruthless Babya (Abhijit Kulkarni). Bibtya escapes with the loot and starts a new life with Jilebi (Supriti Shivalkar). Babya tracks them down, but Jilebi turns out to be the smartest of the trio.

Abhijit Kulkarni and Karan Suman Arjun have written a routine story and an uninteresting screenplay. The drama, therefore, fails to engage or entertain the viewers. Karan Suman Arjun’s dialogues are functional.

Mangesh Ranganath Kangne is ordinary as Bibtya. Abhijit Kulkarni is average as Babya. Supriti Shivalkar is so-so in the role of Jilebi. Atish Lohar delivers a routine performance as Papya. Vishnu Ghorpade, Ganesh Avari, Bhushan Kate and Pradeep Ladkat hardly deserve mention.

Karan Suman Arjun’s direction is dull. Nilesh Patil’s music and Padmakar Malkapure’s lyrics are functional. Ajinkya Jain’s background music is not too effective. Camerawork is ordinary. Jagdish Shelar’s art direction is alright. Santosh Ghotoskar’s editing leaves something to be desired.

On the whole, Halgat is a flop show.
