The Bombay high court on March 8 dismissed a public interest litigation (PIL) filed against The Kashmir Files. The PIL alleged that the film’s trailer suggested that the film may hurt communal sentiments. The high court bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice M.S. Karnik asked the petitioner why he had not challenged the certificate issued by the CBFC.
The PIL was filed by Uttar Pradesh resident Intezar Hussain Sayed. It said that the film was about Muslims killing Kashmiri Pandits, and it thereby would hurt the sentiments of the Muslim community.
Following the dismissal of the PIL, the film is due to release on March 11.
