IFFI HONOURS RAJINIKANTH | 23 November, 2019

The International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is underway in Goa. Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth were present when the festival was inaugurated on 20th November. A special postage stamp was released to mark IFFI’s golden jubilee this year.

Rajinikanth was felicitated with the Icon of the Golden Jubilee award. Besides Bachchan, others who were called on the dais to honour Rajinikanth were Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant, I & B minister Prakash Javadekar, Amit Khare (secretary of I & B ministry), Parimal Rai (chief secretary, government of Goa), and Babul Supriyo (minister of state environment, forest and climate change, government of India). Karan Johar was the master of ceremonies for the inaugural function.

Rajinikanth thanked the government of India for the honour. He dedicated the award to his producers, directors and other technicians.

French actress Isabella Huppert was given the lifetime achievement award.

The eight-day festival is showcasing 200 films. Among the films being screened are Sholay, Aradhana, Ankur and Bhumika.
