The Bombay police last week issued a lookout circular (LOC) against a third-year medical student from Haryana, studying in the UK. He allegedly sent Salman Khan a threatening email. The Bandra (Bombay) police issued the LOC but refused to reveal his identity as the legal process to extradite him to India is underway. He is likely to return to India by the year-end when his academic session will be completed.
The threat by the UK-based Indian student was made in March this year under the name of gangster Goldy Brar and sent to a friend of Salman. Goldy Brar allegedly carried out the murder of Punjabi singer and Congress leader Sidhu Moose Wala in May 2022.
The police have ruled out any connection of the student with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar, under whose names Salman and his writer-father, Salim Khan, have faced several hoax threats. The police said, prima facie, it is suspected that the email threat was sent after reading various newspaper reports and as a prank.
The complaint had been made by Prashant Gunjalkar, a close friend of Salman Khan, who had received an email which made reference to an interview by jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, wherein he had threatened the actor.
The Bandra police registered a case under IPC sections 506(2) for criminal intimidation, 120(B) for criminal conspiracy and 34 for common intention.
