The Juhu (Bombay) police on February 18 arrested small-time South film actress Kavya Thapar for allegedly abusing and picking a fight with a woman constable and drunk driving. It reportedly took almost half a dozen women cops to overpower the 26-year-old actress who had rammed her SUV into another car near JW Marriott Hotel at Juhu and had got into a fight with the motorist who then called the police.
Kavya was under the influence of alcohol and had allegedly consumed more than the permissible level. She was driving back to her home at Mulund with a male friend. She abused the constables and pulled their uniforms when they tried to control her. The Juhu police arrested her for driving under the influence of alcohol, rash driving, assaulting and causing hurt to a public servant, and mischief. She was also booked under the Motor Vehicles Act for drunk driving after her medical examination test report confirmed the presence of alcohol in her blood.
Kavya’s lawyer filed a bail application before the sessions court yesterday (February 18). The matter will be heard on February 21.
