The first multiplex of Kashmir is to open in Srinagar in September this year. The three-screen multiplex has been designed by Inox and has a seating capacity of 520. It will be equipped with Dolby sound system and modern amenities, and will have food courts. The cinema is owned by Vijay Dhar and his son, Vikas Dhar.
Cinemas had shut down in Kashmir 32 years ago, in January 1990, when the JKLF and Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists had ordered closure of 19 cinemas on the New Year day.
