Choreographer Jani Master, arrested on September 20 on charges of raping a woman colleague while she was a minor, was granted interim bail by a Rangareddy court in Hyderabad on October 3 to attend the National Film Awards function, scheduled to be held on October 8.
Jani had filed the bail application, saying that he was scheduled to receive the National Award for best choreography, and sought permission to go to Delhi to receive it.
The court granted him bail from October 6 to 10, and directed him to subsequently surrender before the court.
Jani Master was also booked under POCSO Act. He had gone absconding after the case was filed. He was traced in Goa and brought to Hyderabad. He was then produced before a court which remanded him to judicial custody.
