INTERIM STAY ON BOOK, FILM ON YES BANK’S RANA KAPOOR | 23 December, 2021

A Delhi court on December 22 granted an interim stay on authoring, publishing or further sale of a book on Yes Bank’s former managing director and CEO, Rana Kapoor, accused in a cheating and money-laundering case. It said that the right of reputation cannot be sacrificed and crucified at the altar of the right of freedom of speech and expression of another.

Additional district judge Rajesh Kumar also put an interim stay on a proposed film based on the book, The Banker Who Crushed His Diamonds: The YES Bank Story. The judge said that the relevant paragraphs of the book portrayed Kapoor in a bad light and had the potential to prejudicially affect his reputation.
