‘JERSEY’ RELEASE POSTPONED, OTHER FILMS LIKELY TO SHIFT | 28 December, 2021

In view of the growing number of Coronavirus cases, the release of Shahid Kapoor starrer Jersey has been postponed. The new release date of the film, which was slated to hit the screens this week (31st December), is not yet known for obvious reasons.

The producers and Shahid took the decision this afternoon after the Delhi chief minister announced that cinemas will have to shut down with immediate effect due to the virus striking back in large numbers. It is feared that other state governments may also follow suit in announcing the closure of cinemas. Aman Gill, one of the producers of the Hindi remake of the Telugu hit of the same name, said, “It is impossible to announce a new date at this stage. One doesn’t know for how long cinemas in Delhi will remain closed, and also if some more states will emulate the Delhi example.”

The release position of films like RRR (scheduled for release on 7th January, 2022), Radhe Shyam (14th January, 2022) and Prithviraj (21st January, 2022) is still uncertain but rumours are rife in trade circles that they will also be postponed.
