The BJP will field actors Kangana Ranaut and Arun Govil in the Lok Sabha elections. This marks the entry of both the actors in active politics.
Both the actors, whose names were announced in the ruling party’s fifth list of candidates, will contest from their respective home towns. Kangana will contest the Lower House elections from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi constituency. Arun Govil, whose defining role was that of Lord Ram in the 1980s’ TV serial Ramayan, will contest from the Meerut constituency. Sitting BJP MP Rajendra Agarwal, who has won the Meerut seat thrice, will not get a BJP ticket this time.
