Foundations of Martin Scorsese (The Film Foundation’s World Cinema Project) and George Lucas (Hobson/Lucas Family Foundation) in Italy will restore director Girish Kasaravalli’s debut Kannada film Ghatashraddha in collaboration with India’s Film Heritage Foundation (FHF). The source material for the restoration will be the original camera negative preserved by the National Film Archive of India (NFAI), Pune.
Shivendra Singh Dungarpur’s FHF had earlier collaborated with The Film Foundation’s World Cinema Project to restore Aravindan Govindam’s Malayalam films Kummatty and Thamp.
