The unthinkable has happened. Karan Johar has thrown Kartik Aaryan out of Dostana 2. The film, being directed by Collin D’Cunha and starring Janhvi Kapoor in the female lead, was in the eye of a controversy since a long time because lead man Kartik “had issues with the second half”. The so-called issues allegedly cropped up in Kartik’s mind after he had shot for the film for 20 days.
A source told Information, “Kartik had the guts to tell Karan (Johar) to let him walk out of Dostana 2 and allow him to instead work in another film of Dharma Productions.” The same source revealed, “Karan was flabbergasted to know that the actor wanted the second half of the film changed because Kartik had heard the entire script before signing the film. And so, Karan decided to part ways with the actor.” It is learnt that the film had been shot for a total of 24 days. Out of those 24 days, Kartik had featured in 20 days’ shooting. The production house has decided to recast for the film. It is learnt that Dharma Productions will suffer a loss of Rs. 20 crore because of the change in the lead man opposite Janhvi Kapoor.
A unit hand of the film revealed, “Dharma Productions is too dignified to make an issue out of the horrific matter. The production house will bear the loss silently and move on but I don’t think, Karan will ever want to work with the unprofessional actor again.” Incidentally, this is the first time in the history of Dharma Productions that a lead actor will be replaced after shooting for the film.
