‘KARMAYOGI ABASAHEB’ (MARATHI) REVIEW | 25 October, 2024

Reliance Entertainment, Mayaka Mouli Film and Mumbai Creation Entertainment’s Karmayogi Abasaheb (Marathi) is a biopic on Maharashtra MLA Ganpatrao Deshmukh.

Altaf Dadasaheb Shaikh has penned a story based on the life of Ganpatrao Deshmukh. Since he is not a very popular figure, the story doesn’t hold much appeal for the public. Altaf Dadasaheb Shaikh’s screenplay is routine and the same is true of his dialogues.

Aniket Vishwasrao does a fair job in the title role. Hardik Joshi is so-so. Devika Daftardar performs quite well. Prithvik Pratap lends routine support. Vijay Patkar is okay. Pradeep Velankar acts ably. Suresh Vishwakarma makes his mark. Arbaaz Sheikh leaves an ordinary impression. Tanaji Gulgunde has his moments. Ahmed Deshmukh, Vrindabal, Nikita Sukhdev, Ali Shaikh and Altaf Dadasaheb Shaikh provide average support. Others pass muster.

Altaf Dadasaheb Shaikh’s direction is dull. Avdhoot Gupte’s music is functional. Lyrics (Altaf Dadasaheb Shaikh) are nothing to shout about. Rohit Nagbhide’s background music is so-so. Kumar Dongare’s camerawork is ordinary while his editing is a bit loose. Raju Mali’s art direction hardly deserves mention.

On the whole, Karmayogi Abasaheb is a flop show.

Released on 25-10-’24 at Plaza (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay by Reliance Entertainment. Publicity & opening: weak.
