Marathi television actress Ketaki Chitale, arrested for an objectionable social media post against NCP chief Sharad Pawar, was remanded to judicial custody for 14 days and sent to Thane jail after her police custody ended on May 18. The Thane crime branch did not seek extension of her custody as they are yet to examine her mobile phone and laptop computers.
Soon after her remand to judicial custody, the Goregaon (Bombay) police, who have also registered a case against her, moved an application for her custody. It was granted by the Thane court. The Goregaon police are likely to take Chitale’s custody after completing the legal formalities in a day or two. Ketaki had also moved a bail application in the Thane court on May 18.
