‘KINGDOM OF THE DINOSAURS’ (DUBBED) REVIEW | 6 January, 2023

Jagged Edge Productions’ Kingdom Of The Dinosaurs (dubbed from the Hollywood film of the same name; UA) is set in the future (year 2030). There’s a world war raging. During the war, an experiment in a city lab goes horrendously wrong, following which dinosaurs escape from the lab compound. They are about to take over the world. Meanwhile, Drew (Mark Haldor), Louise (Chelsea Greenwood), Steve (Jay Worthy), Tabby (Nicola Wright), Carly (Darcie Rose), Sarah (Sarah Alexandra Marks) and others are hiding in the lab and trying to find a safe place. After two years, they have to venture out of the lab to find new supplies. Will they venture out? Will they return alive?

Scott Jeffrey has written a story which is exciting in parts only. One has seen dinosaur films in the past too, and, therefore, the novelty factor is absent in Scott’s story and screenplay. Of course, there are terrifying and exciting moments but lack of freshness is a big minus point.

Performances are good, generally speaking. Mark Haldor (as Drew), Chelsea Greenwood (as Louise), Jay Worthy (as Steve), Nicola Wright (as Tabby), Darcie Rose (as Carly) and Sarah Alexandra Marks (as Sarah) perform quite well. Chrissie Wunna (as Leanne), Stephen Staley (as Dean), Clint Gordon (as Daniel), James Kirk (as Ben), Emmanuel Akinkuolie (as Taylor), William Meredith (as Jon), Andrew Rolfe (as Marshall), Kate Sandison (as Sam), Antonia Whillans (as Mia) and the others provide fair support.

Scott Jeffrey’s direction is so-so. Mike Ellaway’s background music is quite good. Cinematography (by Vince Knight) is eye-filling. Maria Galindo’s editing is loose. Dubbing is fairly nice.

On the whole, Kingdom Of The Dinosaurs is a dull fare.

Released on 6-1-’23 at Maratha Mandir (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay thru Sarthak Cinema. Publicity & opening: weak. …….Also released all over.
