KUMAR RAMSAY NO MORE | 8 July, 2021

Producer Kumar Ramsay breathed his last today (8th July) in Bombay. He suffered a cardiac arrest at his residence early in the morning and passed away peacefully. He was 85 and is survived by his wife and three sons.

Eldest of the seven Ramsay brothers, Kumar wrote many of the films made by the Ramsay brothers as also other films. He started to write with Ek Nanhi Munni Ladki Thi and went on to write such films as Do Gaz Zameen Ke Neeche and Khoj (starring Rishi Kapoor and Naseeruddin Shah). He also wrote horror films like Dahshat and Darwaza. The Ramsay brothers ruled the horror film scene in the 1970s and 1980s.

Five of Kumar’s six younger brothers had passed away before Kumar. While Keshu died in 2010, Kiran breathed his last in 2017, Tulsi in 2018, and Shyam and Arjun in 2019. Gangu is the only son of producer F.U. Ramsay alive now.

Kumar Ramsay was cremated this afternoon.
