LALIT PANDIT IN GREAT FORM, WEAVES MELODIOUS MAGIC IN ‘MANNU KYA KAREGGA?’ ALBUM

Is music director Lalit Pandit (of the popular Jatin-Lalit jodi) all set to stage a sensational comeback? It’s not as if Lalit has not been doing good work after the two brothers split professionally, but when a film of an established music director, with very melodious music, comes along after a long gap, one tends to use the term ‘comeback’.

Anyway, in Lalit Pandit’s case, that film is Mannu Kya Karegga?. Starring newcomers Vyom Yadav and Saachi Bindra, the film is being directed by Sanjay Tripathy (Club 60, Binny And Family) for producer Sharad Mehra.

Coming to the music of the film, Information had an occasion to listen to all the seven songs. Lalit has made an album which has a mix of romantic, melodious, fun as well as folk tunes. Very intelligently, he has used voices of popular playback singers alongside introducing new voices to the Hindi screen.

Gulfam, written by Javed Akhtar, has been recorded in the voice of Stebin Ben. It is supremely melodious and has a wonderful feel to it. Ik pal judaai, rendered by Mohit Chauhan, takes you back to the time when Mohit ruled the music charts. His sweet voice just transports you to that time period. Producer Sharad Mehra, who is from the world of education (Pearl Academy and Global University Systems), has written this song. Lalit Pandit has himself written the Humnawa song which is again beautifully tuned. New singer Varun Jain has lent his vocal chords to this number. There’s a fun quality and certain zing to the Mannu tera kya hoga song, and yes, you guessed it right, it is penned by Kumaar! Shaan, Manasi Ghosh and Akanksha Sinha have rendered the number.

Javed Akhtar weaves magic with his lyrics in the Halki halki baarish song which is rendered by Shaan and Akriti Kakkad. Chhaya hai andhiyara is an inspirational and uplifting song. Udit Narayan’s voice is just perfect for the number; Sharayu Date and Lalit Pandit have also lent their voices to the number. The folk song — Saiyaan mile ladkaiyaan — is excellently recorded in the voice of Malini Awasthi which gives it a distinct identity.

At a time when producers and music composers have stopped working hard on the music of their films, it is gratifying to see that Lalit has put in so much effort in making the film’s album a truly melodious one. The songs are a result of his efforts for more than a year and are his labour of love.

One is sure, after reading this, you will be curious to hear the songs of Curious Eyes Cinema Production’s Mannu Kya Karegga?. Well, you will have to wait fora couple of months. For, the film is slated for release in May this year and so, its music should be out around April.
