GADAR 2 opened to extraordinary houses yesterday (11th August), smashing records at many cinemas, in the process. The GADAR EK PREM KATHA sequel had recorded phenomenal advance booking all over, setting the stage for a mind-blowing start. The first day closed at Rs. 40.10 crore! The other big release, OH MY GOD 2, opened at far lower levels, thanks to the humongous opposition posed by GADAR 2. Although the reports, especially of the class audience, were positive, collections did not match, also because of poor showcasing. The film is said to have netted Rs. 9 crore on day 1. RAJINI THE JAILER (Tamil and dubbed in other languages) opened on Thursday (10th) to a thunderous response except in Hindi (dubbed).

Meg 2: The Trench (dubbed and the original English versions) did well in the first week, mainly in the South (Andhra-Telangana and Tamilnad circuits). It netted Rs. 0.69 crore on Thursday, which was the opening day for the English version. Collections on Friday (for all the versions put together) shot up to Rs. 2.95 crore and further to Rs. 4.24 crore on Saturday. The total for Sunday was Rs. 4.95 crore. After a weekend total of Rs. 12.83 crore, collections for the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 1.31 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 1.15 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.98 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.59 crore. Therefore, the total for the weekdays was Rs. 4.03 crore. In this way, the first 8-day week closed at Rs. 16.86 crore.
Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani maintained well in the second week. The second weekend started with a take of Rs. 6.50 crore on Friday. Collections shot up to Rs. 11.25 crore on Saturday, and even further to Rs. 13.75 crore on Sunday. Therefore, the total for the second weekend was Rs. 31.50 crore. Collections for the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 4.20 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 4.30 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 3.90 crore, Thursday – Rs. 3.30 crore. In this way, the total for the weekdays was Rs. 15.70 crore. Hence the total for the second week was Rs. 47.20 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 114.70 crore.
Oppenheimer (dubbed and the original English versions) continued to do well in the third week. The first day of the third weekend closed at Rs. 2.40 crore. Collections on Saturday and Sunday grew, the days closing at Rs. 4.38 crore and Rs. 4.59 crore respectively. Therefore, the total for the third weekend was an impressive Rs. 11.37 crore. Collections for the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 1.33 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 1.21 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 1.26 crore, Thursday – Rs. 1.09 crore. Hence the total for the weekdays was Rs. 4.89 crore. In this way, the third week closed at Rs. 16.26 crore. Grand total for 3 weeks: Rs. 115.32 crore.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (dubbed and the original English versions) did average business in its fourth week. It started with a net collection of Rs. 0.50 crore in the first day of the fourth weekend. Collections more than doubled on Saturday which closed at Rs. 1.10 crore. The total for Sunday was Rs. 1.45 crore. After a fourth weekend figure of Rs. 3.05 crore, collections for the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 0.29 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.30 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.28 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.28 crore. In this way, the total for the weekdays was Rs. 1.15 crore. Hence the fourth week closed at Rs. 4.20 crore. Grand total for 4 weeks: Rs. 117.35 crore.
