‘K.G.F. CHAPTER 2’ OPENS HUGE, WRITES HISTORY!

The dubbed version of K.G.F. Chapter 2 has written box-office history by starting off like a rocket. It opened on Thursday instead of the usual Friday, on account of the holiday for Ambedkar Jayanti and Mahavir Jayanti. It netted Rs. 53.95 crore on the first day which is not only the biggest opening of the year so far but also the biggest initial ever! Point to be noted is that the Hindi dubbed version of the film was hardly released in Nizam, Mysore, Tamilnad and Kerala circuits as the respective language versions opened there. Due to the almost unprecedented craze for the film, shows in many parts of the country started at 4 a.m. and 5 a.m., and they were either full or nearly full. The first-day total of all the versions — original Kannada, dubbed Hindi, dubbed Tamil, dubbed Telugu and dubbed Malayalam — put together was an astounding Rs. 117 crore (gross: Rs. 138 crore), the second-highest ever! K.G.F. Chapter 2 (Hindi dubbed) surpassed the initials of War (Rs. 51.60 crore; all versions – Rs. 53.35 crore), Thugs Of Hindostan (Rs. 50.75 crore; all versions – Rs. 52.25 crore), Bharat (Rs. 41.50 crore), Bahubali 2: The Conclusion (dubbed) (Rs. 41.25 crore; all versions – Rs. 121 crore), Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (Rs. 40.35 crore) and Happy New Year (Rs. 40 crore). The film performed brilliantly on the second day too, netting Rs. 46.79 crore! Total for first 2 days: Rs. 100.74 crore!! The first 4-day weekend of K.G.F. Chapter 2 is expected to close around Rs. 175-plus crore. The first 8-day week may close around Rs. 235-plus crore. The film is poised to easily join the Rs. 300-crore club.

RAW (dubbed version of Tamil Beast) failed to find much acceptance on the first day (Wednesday, April 13). Collections on the second day (Thursday, April 14) were worse because of the opposition of K.G.F. Chapter 2 (dubbed) on Thursday.

Hurdang bombed all over in 1st week.

Juni – The Last Prayer fared miserably in the first week.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore (dubbed and original English versions) did fairly well in 1st week. The original English version somewhat saved the day as collections of the Hindi dubbed version were very ordinary.

Attack nosedived in the second week all over. It will entail heavy losses to its distributors. The second weekend started with Rs. 32 lakh on Friday. Collections on Saturday and Sunday were Rs. 50 lakh and Rs. 61 lakh respectively. In this way, the total for the second weekend was a pathetic Rs. 1.43 crore. Collections for the weekdays: Monday – Rs. 21 lakh, Tuesday – Rs. 18 lakh, Wednesday – Rs. 11 lakh, Thursday – Rs. 2 lakh only. Therefore, the total for the weekdays was a paltry Rs. 0.52 crore. Total for 2nd week: Rs. 1.95 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 15.45 crore.

RRR (dubbed) added Rs. 35 crore to its kitty in the third week. The third weekend started with a take of Rs. 5 crore. Collections on Saturday jumped to Rs. 7.25 crore, and further to Rs. 10.50 crore on Sunday. In this way, its third weekend’s total was Rs. 22.75 crore. Collections for the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 3.25 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 3 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 3 crore, Thursday – Rs. 3 crore. Hence the total for the weekdays was Rs. 12.25 crore. Total for 3rd week: Rs. 35 crore. Grand total for 3 weeks: Rs. 240 crore.

The Kashmir Files is now on its last lap. In its fifth week, it collected Rs. 0.50 crore on Friday, Rs. 0.85 crore on Saturday, and Rs. 1.15 crore on Sunday. Its total for the fifth weekend was, therefore, Rs. 2.50 crore. Collections for the weekdays: Monday – Rs. 0.30 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.32 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.25 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.15 crore. Hence the total for the weekdays was Rs. 1.02 crore. Total for 5th week: Rs. 3.52 crore. Grand total for 5 weeks: Rs. 248.77 crore.

Vishu (Marathi) flopped in the first week all over Maharashtra.

Rivanawayali (Marathi) failed to make any mark in 1st week in Maharashtra.

Me Vasantrao (Marathi) continued to do well in 2nd week in some parts of Maharashtra.
