‘ANIMAL’ OFF TO FLYING START!

ANIMAL was off to a bumper start yesterday (December 1). The first day closed at around Rs. 63 crore (Hindi version Rs. 53 crore, dubbed versions Rs. 10 crore), making it the biggest non-holiday opening ever.

Farrey failed the box-office examination in the first week all over.

Starfish faced complete rejection in 1st week all over.

Anari Is Backk was a non-starter in the first week all over.

Yaatris could not attract the public at all in the first week.

Do Ajnabee bombed miserably all over in 1st week.

Dilon Mein Uphaan fared poorly in 1st week in Bihar.

Manush (dubbed) performed terribly in the first week all over.

Napoleon (dubbed and the original English versions) could not do anything substantive in 1st week. It started the first weekend with a take of Rs. 0.85 crore on Friday. Collections picked up on Saturday which, therefore, closed at Rs. 1.25 crore. The total for Sunday — Rs. 1.15 crore — was less than that of Saturday, which gave an indication that the film’s future was bleak. After a first weekend total of Rs. 3.25 crore, collections for the weekdays were rather dull: Monday – Rs. 0.40 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.27 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.27 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.26 crore. Hence the total for the weekdays was Rs. 1.20 crore. In this way, the first week closed at Rs. 4.45 crore.

Tiger 3 dropped even more markedly in 3rd week than last week. The third weekend started with a take of Rs. 3.83 crore (Hindi Rs. 3.80 crore, dubbed Rs. 0.03 crore) on Friday. Collections on Saturday increased to Rs. 5.79 crore (Hindi Rs. 5.75 crore, dubbed Rs. 0.04 crore). The total on Sunday was Rs. 6.81 crore (Hindi Rs. 6.76 crore, dubbed Rs. 0.05 crore). Hence the total for the third weekend was Rs. 16.43 crore (Hindi Rs. 16.31 crore, dubbed Rs. 0.12 crore). Collections for the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 3.07 crore (Hindi Rs. 3.05 crore, dubbed Rs. 0.02 crore), Tuesday – Rs. 2.31 crore (Hindi Rs. 2.30 crore, dubbed Rs. 0.01 crore), Wednesday – Rs. 2.21 crore (Hindi Rs. 2.20 crore, dubbed Rs. 0.01 crore), Thursday – Rs. 2.06 crore (Hindi Rs. 2.05 crore, dubbed Rs. 0.01 crore). Therefore, the total for the weekdays was Rs. 9.65 crore (Hindi Rs. 9.60 crore, dubbed Rs. 0.05 crore). In this way, the total for 3rd week was Rs. 26.08 crore (Hindi Rs. 25.91 crore, dubbed Rs. 0.17 crore). Grand total for 3 weeks: Rs. 282.28 crore (Hindi Rs. 275.56 crore, dubbed Rs. 6.72 crore).

12th Fail continued to do quite well in 5th week too. It started its fifth weekend with a net collection of Rs. 0.60 crore on Friday. Collections on Saturday doubled to Rs. 1.20 crore and on Sunday, they went up to Rs. 1.82 crore. Hence the total for the fifth weekend was Rs. 3.62 crore. Collections for the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 1.10 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.60 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.65 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.65 crore. In this way, the total for the weekdays was Rs. 3 crore. Therefore, the total for 5th week was Rs. 6.62 crore. Grand total for 5 weeks: Rs. 47.78 crore.

Jhimma 2 (Marathi) did very well in 1st week all over Maharashtra.
