‘SHAMSHERA’ TAKES DISMAL START, LAST WEEK’S FILMS FAIL

This week’s SHAMSHERA is yet another bomb from the Yash Raj Films banner. Like its predecessors, JAYESHBHAI JORDAAR and SAMRAT PRITHVIRAJ, the latest release of the studio also took a start which was not commensurate with its budget, canvas and cast. The first day closed at just Rs. 10.25 crore. Shows of the film at some cinemas in various circuits had to be cancelled on the first day owing to absence of audience.

HIT – The First Case could not find too many takers. It netted around Rs. 5.50 crore in the first weekend, and another Rs. 2.10 during the weekdays. Total for 1st week: Rs. 7.60 crore.

Shabaash Mithu has been rejected by the audience. It netted pathetic collections in the first week. The first weekend’s total was only about Rs. 1.70 crore. The total for the weekdays was a paltry Rs. 0.30 crore. In this way, the first week closed at Rs. 2 crore only. The film is out of most of the cinemas!

Judaa Hoke Bhi… could neither thrill nor chill the public with its horror drama.

Ladki was liked neither by the girls nor by the guys.

Khuda Haafiz Chapter 2: Agni Pariksha collections dropped even further in 2nd week. The second weekend started with a take of Rs. 55 lakh on Friday. Collections increased to Rs. 75 lakh on Saturday, and further to Rs. 92 lakh on Sunday. After a second weekend total of Rs. 2.22 crore, collections for the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 36 lakh, Tuesday – Rs. 32 lakh, Wednesday – Rs. 28 lakh, Thursday – Rs. 22 lakh. Hence the total for the weekdays was Rs. 1.18 crore. Total for 2nd week: Rs. 3.40 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 15.68 crore.

Thor: Love And Thunder (dubbed and the original English versions) did ordinary in 2nd week. The second weekend commenced with a net collection of Rs. 1.98 crore on Friday. Collections jumped to Rs. 3.90 crore on Saturday, and further to Rs. 4.63 crore on Sunday. In this way, the weekend total went up to Rs. 10.51 crore. Collections for the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 1.15 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 1.03 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.89 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.81 crore. With the total for the weekdays being Rs. 3.88 crore, the total for the second week was Rs. 14.39 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 93.40 crore.

Rocketry: The Nambi Effect (Hindi, Hinglish, Tamil, Telugu dubbed, Malayalam dubbed and Kannada dubbed) did average business in 3rd week. The Hindi and Hinglish versions together netted Rs. 0.75 crore on Friday, Rs. 1.69 crore on Saturday, and Rs. 2.29 crore on Sunday, taking the third weekend total to Rs. 4.73 crore. Collections for the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 0.52 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.52 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.51 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.46 crore. Therefore, the total for the weekdays was Rs. 2.01 crore. Total for the third week for the Hindi and Hinglish versions together: Rs. 6.74 crore. Grand total for 3 weeks for the Hindi and Hinglish versions: Rs. 29.77 crore. The Tamil, Telugu dubbed, Malayalam dubbed and Kannada dubbed versions together netted Rs. 0.25 crore during the weekend, and a further Rs. 0.13 crore during the weekdays. Therefore, the total for 3rd week for the South language versions was Rs. 0.38 crore. Grand total of the South versions for 3 weeks: Rs. 3.44 crore. In other words, all the six versions put together netted Rs. 7.12 crore in 3rd week. Grand total for 3 weeks for all the versions together: Rs. 33.21 crore.

Minions: The Rise Of Gru (dubbed and the original English versions; animation) is on its last lap. It started its third weekend with a collection of Rs. 17 lakh on Friday. Collections on Saturday and Sunday were Rs. 48 lakh and Rs. 63 lakh respectively. After a weekend total of Rs. 1.28 crore, collections for the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 12 lakh, Tuesday – Rs. 11 lakh, Wednesday – Rs. 11 lakh, Thursday – Rs. 11 lakh. Therefore, the total for the weekdays was Rs. 45 lakh.Total for 3rd week: Rs. 1.73 crore. Grand total for 3 weeks: Rs. 11.07 crore.

Tamasha Live (Marathi) did not do well in 1st week all over Maharashtra.

Vickida No Varghodo (Gujarati) did better in 2nd week than in the first week. The second weekend started with a net collection of Rs. 27 lakh on Friday. Collections increased to Rs. 30 lakh on Saturday, and Rs. 40 lakh on Sunday. After a second weekend total of Rs. 97 lakh, collections for the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 17 lakh, Tuesday – Rs. 15 lakh, Wednesday – Rs. 14 lakh, Thursday – Rs. 14 lakh. Therefore, the total for the weekdays was Rs. 60 lakh. Total for 2nd week: Rs. 1.57 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 2.88 crore.
