‘BABY JOHN’ DISAPPOINTS ‘PUSHPA: THE RULE PART 2’ (HINDI DUBBED) CONTINUES TO RULE

BABY JOHN proved to be a disastrous fare which did not even open to great houses despite its release on the festive occasion and holiday of Christmas (25th December, Wednesday). Unbelievable as it may sound, the collections of PUSHPA: THE RULE PART 2 (Hindi dubbed) on the sixth day of the third week (21st day as it opened on Thursday, 5th December) were better than the collections of BABY JOHN on its first day! After a net collection figure of Rs. 9.50 crore on day 1, collections dropped by more than 50% on the second day which closed at Rs. 4.50 crore only. While it cannot be denied that the second day was neither a Friday nor a holiday and, therefore, collections were expected to drop, the over-50% decline was a bit too much because the start itself (Rs. 9.50 crore) was dull.

Vanvaas proved a debacle in the first week. It collected approximately Rs. 2.50 crore in the first weekend and another Rs. 1.30 crore during the weekdays. Therefore, the first week closed at a dismal Rs. 3.80 crore despite the Christmas holiday on the sixth day.

Outhouse met with a disastrous fate in 1st week.

Marco (dubbed) collected poorly in the first week despite appreciation, as awareness about the release was low.

UI (dubbed) turned out to be a major flop in the first week.

Mufasa: The Lion King (animation; dubbed and the original English versions) did very well in the first week. Collections of the Hindi dubbed version were as good as those of the original English version, thanks to the dubbing of Mufasa by Shah Rukh Khan. The film netted around Rs. 50 crore in the first week.

Pushpa: The Rule Part 2 (Hindi dubbed) continued to rule in the third week also. It held sway over the audience in spite of the release of Baby John on 25th December. The third weekend started with a take of Rs. 10.50 crore on Friday. Collections shot up to Rs. 18 crore on Saturday, and further to Rs. 25 crore on Sunday, taking the third weekend’s total to Rs. 53.50 crore. By the end of the third weekend, the film had become the biggest Hindi blockbuster with its total net collections being Rs. 641.50 crore. Collections for the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 9.75 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 9.50 crore, Wednesday (Christmas holiday) – Rs. 15.50 crore, Thursday – Rs. 8 crore. In this way, the total for the weekdays was Rs. 42.75 crore. Hence the total for 3rd week was Rs. 96.25 crore. Grand total for 3 weeks: Rs. 684.25 crore.

Moana 2 (animation, dubbed and the original English versions) did fair business in its fourth week. It collected Rs. 2.20 crore in 4th week, taking its grand total for 4 weeks to Rs. 26.55 crore.

Hashtag Tadev Lagnam (Marathi) did very ordinary business in 1st week in Maharashtra.

Shri Ganesha (Marathi) bombed in the first week all over Maharashtra.

Dharmarakshak Mahaveer Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj (Marathi) was quite good in its fifth week too in Maharashtra.
