Adiv Productions Pvt. Ltd.’s LaVaste (UA) is the story of a young man who works for a company which offers services for the last rites of people whose children are abroad or who have nobody to perform the last rites.
Satyansh (Omkar Kapoor) loses his job and is forced to take up another job in a company owned by Jallad Singh (Manoj Joshi). The company offers services to perform the last rites of dead people. One day, Satyansh suggests the owner to change the name of the company from ‘Lash Ke Vaste’ (‘For Dead Bodies’) to the abbreviated ‘Lavaste’. That does it! The company grows. Jallad Singh takes Satyansh as a partner.
One day, Satyansh is so busy that he can’t talk to his mother when she calls him up from the village. His father’s phone call also goes unanswered. Satyansh immediately goes to his village to spring a surprise on his parents, but instead, he gets the shock of his life. What is the shock? What happens thereafter?
Aditya Verma’s story is silly. Sudeesh Kanaujia’s screenplay, with additional screenplay by Vikas Giri, Anurag Chaturvedi and Aditya Verma, is so weak that nothing connects with the audience. The screenplay looks patchy and doesn’t flow as a cohesive drama. Emotions fail to touch the heart. A little comedy entertains at places. Vikas Giri, Anurag Chaturvedi and Aditya Verma’s dialogues, with additional dialogues by Sudeesh Kanaujia, are entertaining.
Omkar Kapoor is fair as Satyansh. Urvashi S. Sharma gets minimal scope as Sanjana. Manoj Joshi is good in the role of Jallad Singh. Brijendra Kala lends nice support as Kallu Chacha. Aditya Verma is average as Satyansh’s friend, Sonu. Kurush Deboo and Shubhangi Latkar are adequate. Others fit the bill.
Sudeesh Kanaujia’s direction is very weak. Manoj Tyagi’s music and background score are routine. Lyrics are dull. Kuldeep Damor’s camerawork is hardly anything to shout about. Shiva Bayappa’s editing leaves something to be desired.
On the whole, LaVaste will prove to be a debacle at the box-office.
