Legendary singer Asha Bhosle was conferred the Maharashtra Bhushan award at a function near Gateway of India in Bombay on March 24. The award was given at the hands of state chief minister Eknath Shinde. Deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and cricket star Sachin Tendulkar were present on the occasion.
The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 25 lakh, a shawl, a memento and a certificate. A documentary on the life and times of the great singer was screened on the occasion.
