A special court in Bombay last week refused to discharge alleged gangster Obedulla Radiowala who is accused of being part of a conspiracy to kill filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt in 2014. Special judge D.B. Shelke said that Radiowala had provided funds to the gang with an intention to achieve the object. He added that Radiowala had hatched conspiracy along with gang leader Ravi Pujari and his other associates so as to eliminate film producer Mahesh Bhatt. The judge observed that the accused intended to create terror among film producers.
Obedulla Radiowala, who was absconding, was brought to India from the US in 2019. The judge further observed, “From the statement at this stage, it can be inferred that this accused was providing funds to accused… In this case, the allegations against this accused are that wanted accused Ravi Pujari and he constituted gang with the help of accused Yusuf Suleman Kadri alias Sulemani Bachkana with an intention to commit murder of film producer Mahesh Bhatt.”
The associates of Ravi Pujari were apprehended with lethal weapons, pistols and cartridges on November 15, 2014 near Madhu Park, 11th Road, Khar, Bombay.
