Brandex Entertainment, Infovision Entertainment and Mumbai Talkies Company’s Main Raj Kapoor Ho Gaya… (UA) is the story of a noble-hearted man. He firmly believes that all humans were born equal, but humans themselves maliciously challenged God’s intent by dividing humanity on the basis of religion, caste and creed. The man worships Bollywood star Raj Kapoor and tries to do good for people, like the characters portrayed by Raj Kapoor in his various films did.
Manav Sohal has penned a story which is so thin that it doesn’t really add up to anything. The screenplay gets repetitive after a point of time. Therefore, the drama doesn’t entertain or engage the viewers. Dialogues are dull.
Manav Sohal is no hero material. His performance in the title role is immature. Shravani Goswami does an average job as Laxmi. Arshin Mehta is adequate as Suman. Nazia Hussain has her moments as Madame. Kanchan Pagare is alright as Raghu. Virendra Saxena makes his presence felt in the role of Pinto. Anant Jog provides fine support as police inspector Shinde. Sahiba Khurana (as Radha), Harshita Kashyab (as Babita), Jiten Mukhi (as the doctor), Smita Dongre (as Mausi), Urmila Sharma (as Uma tai), Mahendra Gaikwad (as Anna), Dhananjay Singh (as Shetty), Raj Singh (as Vishal), Sneha Gupta (as the Bombay girl) and guests Brijendra Kala, Manish Goel, Raj Prem, Zahid Ali, Dayashankar Pandey, Tarun Khanna, Gufi Paintal and Nishi Gandhawad lend routine support.
Manav Sohal’s direction is not impressive. Vidyut Goswami’s music and background score are ordinary. Lyrics (Manav Sohal) are just about passable. Raka’s choreography is functional. Javed Ahtasham’s camerawork is dull. Action and stunt scenes (by action director Mukesh Rathod) lack thrill. Kiran Sahi’s production designing is below the mark. Sandeep Singh Bajeli’s editing is loose.
On the whole, Main Raj Kapoor Ho Gaya… is an apology of a film and will go largely unnoticed.
Released on 17-2-’23 at Gem (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay by Brandex Entertainment. Publicity: ordinary. Opening: weak. …….Also released all over.
