‘MAJHI PRARTHANA’ (MARATHI) REVIEW | 9 May, 2025

Padmaraj Nair Films’ Majhi Prarthana (Marathi; UA) is the love story of Golya (Padmaraj Rajgopal Nair) and Prarthana (Anusha Adep). It is set in rural Maharashtra in the pre-Independence era. Golya and Prarthana love each other, but their love is threatened by a powerful force.

Padmaraj Rajgopal Nair has written a story which does not have much to offer. His screenplay is boring and repetitive. The drama moves at such a slow pace that it tests the viewers’ patience. The romance is far from heartwarming. Even the emotional quotient is weak. Padmaraj Rajgopal Nair’s dialogues are ordinary.

Padmaraj Rajgopal Nair is dull as Golya. Anusha Adep does an ordinary job as Prarthana. Upendra Limaye is natural. Jainendra Nikale is not very impressive. Vijayendra Mandavkar is so-so. Chandravati Pawar lends routine support. Hansita Jikamade is routine. Swarangi Kelkar is dull. Swapna Adep passes muster. Andrej Bliznetsov and the others are dull.

Padmaraj Rajgopal Nair’s direction is terribly weak. He has also composed the action and stunt scenes, which lack thrill. Viswajith C.T.’s music and background music are functional. Lyrics (Padmaraj Rajgopal Nair) are barely passable. Tanu Balak’s camerawork is weak. Padmaraj Rajgopal Nair’s production designing, and Abhishek Redkar’s art direction hardly deserve mention. Pradeep Shankar’s editing is loose.

On the whole, Majhi Prarthana is a poor show all the way.

Released on 9-5-’25 at Jai Hind Mukta A2 (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay thru AA Films. Publicity & opening: poor.
