MAMMOOTTY DENIES PRESENCE OF POWER GROUP IN KERALA FILM INDUSTRY, PRAISES STATE GOVT. FOR JUSTICE HEMA COMMITTEE REPORT | 2 September, 2024

Actor Mammootty on September 1 denied the presence of any power group in the film industry and called upon everyone working in the Malayalam film industry to be vigilant so that nothing untoward happened there and so that cinema could survive. In a Facebook post, the veteran actor praised the Kerala government’s initiative to constitute the Justice Hema Committee and requested it to implement the recommendations of the panel by enacting necessary legislation.

Breaking his silence on the report and consequent allegations, Mammootty said, he welcomed and supported the recommendations and solutions in the report and urged all industry associations to join hands in implementing them. He added that the police should be allowed to investigate complaints of sexual misconduct raised by several women, honestly.

Mammootty clarified that his response was delayed only because he was waiting for the association of actors (AMMA) and its leadership to first respond to the Committee report. He also explained that anything happening in the film industry became a major discussion point as society paid close attention to the film industry.
