MAN ARRESTED FOR ISSUING THREAT TO ACTOR | 7 July, 2022

A 25-year-old tempo driver from Bandra in Bombay was arrested by the Bombay city crime branch for issuing a threat to a Marathi film actor through Twitter. The driver told the actor not to show any animosity towards Islam and added that those indulging in such activities would be shot dead.

The crime intelligence unit, with the help of the technical team of the cyber crime cell, arrested Rizwan Khan, a resident of a transit camp at Bandra (East) on the night of July 5 under sections 153(A) and 295(A) of the IPC. Section 153(A) deals with promoting enmity between groups on the grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence and language. Section 295(A) deals with deliberate and malicious intention of outraging the religious feelings of any class, insults or attempts to insult the religion or religious beliefs of that class.
