Sonali Film Creation’s Majnu (Marathi; UA) is a love triangle.
Vishal (Rohan Patil) and Kasturi (Svetlana Ahire) love each other. However, Sagar (Nitesh Chavan) has a soft spot for Kasturi. Suddenly, Kasturi starts avoiding Vishal and ultimately, she even agrees to marry Sagar. What happens to the love story of Vishal and Kasturi? Why does Kasturi ditch Vishal? Does Vishal fight back or does he resign to his fate?
Govardhan Doltade has written a done-to-death story which does not even have a hint of novelty. His screenplay moves on the beaten path and is, more often than not, predictable. Since the drama is clichéd, it offers no excitement whatsoever. Govardhan Doltade’s dialogues are very routine.
Rohan Patil does an ordinary job as Vishal. Svetlana Ahire is not heroine material. In the role of Kasturi, she is hardly average. Nitesh Chavan impresses as Sagar. Suresh Vishwakarma is alright as Kasturi’s father, Aabasaheb. Milind Shinde lends ordinary support as Vishal’s father. Ranjit Randive gets limited scope in the role of Tatyasaheb, father of Sagar. Madhavi Juvekar (as Vishal’s mother), Aditi Sarangdhar (as sports teacher Maya) and Pranav Raorane (as Kasturi’s brother, Raja) provide dull support.
Shivaji Doltade’s direction is pretty weak. Of the songs (music composed by P. Shankaram, Sachin Awaghade and Sajan-Vishal), only the ‘Man bandhala bandhala’ is a well-tuned number. Lyrics (Govardhan Doltade, Avinash Gangode, Deepak Gaikwad and Sajan Bendre) are ordinary. Height Majanu’s choreography is poor. Background music (by P. Shankaram and Vinit Deshpande) leaves a lot to be desired. M.B. Allikatti’s camerawork is nothing to shout about. Mahesh Kore’s art direction is dull. Chetan Sagade’s editing is loose.
On the whole, Majnu is a flop show.
Released on 10-6-’22 at Glamour (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay thru August Entertainment. Publicity & opening: poor.
