‘McGUFFIN’ REVIEW | 8 August, 2025

Roar Picture Company’s McGuffin (A) is the story of a private detective who starts to lose himself as he is trying to solve a case — to find McGuffin. But what/who is McGuffin?

Rohit Arora has written a very abstract story and screenplay, which don’t arrest the viewer’s attention. The drama becomes confusing and boring so that the audience lose interest quite early on. Rohit Arora’s dialogues are routine.

Rohit Arora is dull in the role of Anjaan. Kajal Himalayan is okay as Dasi. Sidharth Bhardwaj passes muster as WoWei. Nasir Abdullah lends fair support as Prof. Sinha. Lokesh Mittal is alright as Karma. Others barely pass muster.

Rohit Arora’s direction is weak. His editing leaves something to be desired. Rishi Kumar’s music hardly deserves separate mention. Anand Nambiar’s background music is functional. Surendra Panwar’s camerawork is average.

On the whole, McGuffin is a poor show all the way.

Released on 8-8-’25 at Movie Time Goregaon (daily 1 show) and one other cinema of Bombay thru Filmastra Studios. Publicity & opening: poor. …….Also released all over. Opening was horrifyingly weak everywhere.
