MODEL-ACTRESS DUPED BY ‘CASTING DIRECTORS’ | 14 January, 2023

Model and television actress Sanna Suri was allegedly cheated of more than Rs. 8.50 lakh by two men who posed as casting directors and claimed to have “cast” her in Rajinikanth’s upcoming Jailer and in Allu Arjun’s Pushpa: The Rule – Part 2. Sanna’s mother filed a complaint at the Versova police station, Andheri, Bombay on January 12.

Sanna, who has worked in serials like Kasam, Aahat and Crime Patrol, realised that she had been duped by Piyush Jain and Samir Jain after the assistant director of the Rajinikanth film called her up and asked her to remove the fake Jailer poster which she had posted on her Instagram account. He also informed her that the Jains were not the casting directors for Jailer.

According to the complaint, Sanna got a message on her social media page on July 22, 2022 from Piyush Jain, claiming that he was a casting director and was looking for a fresh face for an online audition for Jailer. On speaking with Piyush on telephone, Sanna was informed by him that his partner, Samir, was also looking for new faces for two films including the Pushpa sequel. Later, the two men asked her to transfer money for her flight tickets to Paris and other locations, a letter of approval from the French embassy for visa, and hotel bookings.

The police said, Sanna never met the Jains and only spoke with them on WhatsApp calls.

Police investigations are in progress.
