A special MCOCA court in Bombay has said that it appeared that one of the cops who probed the case of firing at the bungalow of producer Karim Morani at Juhu in Bombay, had cooked up a story regarding certain aspects and there were discrepancies in his evidence. This, the court added, had created a shadow of doubt about the incident itself.
The court acquitted 12 accused on March 16. The 147-page detailed order was made available on March 17. It was the prosecution’s case that alleged gangster Ravi Pujari wanted gangster Obaid to obtain the Overseas distribution rights of Happy New Year and had, therefore, made threat calls to Karim who was a close friend of Shah Rukh Khan, the producer and actor of the said film.
