MOST SATURATED RELEASE EVER! | 26 December, 2024

Rajasthan and C.I. distributors Prem and Harish Janiani, who are supervising the release of Pushpa: The Rule Part 2 (Hindi dubbed) in C.I. and Rajasthan circuits for all-India distributor Anil Thadani (AA Films), released it in 115 out of 117 cinemas in in the Rajasthan circuit. Rajasthan territory has a total of 117 cinemas, if every property is counted as one cinema irrespective of the number of screens. The Pushpa sequel would’ve played in every single single-screen cinema and multiplex of Rajasthan territory had it not been for reasons beyond the control of the Janianis.

Neelam cinema of Balotra and Jagan cinema of Dholpur could not screen the film even though it was offered to them. The reasons were different for the two cinemas. The furniture in Neelam cinema was not at all up to the mark to accommodate huge crowds which were expected to be seen for the Allu Arjun sequel. As for Jagan, Dholpur, the cinema owner was very keen to screen Pushpa: The Rule Part 2 but had to opt out at the last minute as he had to be in Delhi at the time of the film’s release. The owner is a politician and told the Janianis that in his absence at the cinema at the time of the film’s release, nobody would be able to handle and deal with the rowdy crowds. It is only for this reason that he pleaded inability to screen the film. Believe it or not but in the week of release of the Pushpa sequel, Jagan cinema remained closed. In other words, it did not play any other film.

Looking to the unprecedented public response to Pushpa: The Rule Part 2, Prem and Harish Janiani visited a number of cinemas in different parts of the Rajasthan territory, with boxes of sweetmeats for the exhibitors. They covered around 1,700 kms. by road so that they could personally meet with their “partners” and congratulate them on the roaring success of the film running at theirs.

Incidentally, Harish Janiani jokes, “The success of Pushpa: The Rule Part 2 was a foregone conclusion for us in C.I. and Rajasthan. And just why? Because my mother’s name is Pushpa and it is her love and rule that has stood our family in good stead for 65 years now!”
