PK7 Creation and Prema Krishnadas’ Muddy (dubbed from the film of the same name, made in all four South Indian languages; UA) is an action film. It is the story of two daredevils who confront each other. The mud fight between them is the mainstay of the drama.
Dr. Pragabhal has written a routine story and screenplay, using all the tried and tested twists and turns in the book. The drama has a fast pace and plenty of action because of which it holds the interest of the masses. However, there isn’t much for the families and the classes. Dialogues are ordinary.
Yuvan Krishna is okay as Yuvan. Ridhaan Krishna is alright in the role of Karthy. Suresh Anusha is so-so. Renji Panicker does a fair job. Hareesh Peradi has his moments. I.M. Vijayan, Sunil Sukhada, Manoj Guinness, Shobha Mohan, Kottayam Ramesh, Jo Hhary, Ajith Koshy, Roshan Chandra, Bineesh Bastin, Abu Valayamkulam, Molly Kannamaly, Sivadas Mattannur, Harish Pengan and Amit Shivdas Nair provide ordinary support.
Dr. Pragabhal’s direction caters to the masses. Ravi Basrur’s music is commonplace. Lyrics are nothing to shout about. Song picturisations are average. Ravi Basrur’s background music is quite nice. K.G. Ratheesh’s camerawork is appealing. Stunt and action scenes (by Run Ravi; mud race choreographed by Dr. Pragabhal) are thrilling. Rajesh Kalpathur’s sets are fair. San Lokesh’s editing is reasonably sharp. Dubbing is okay.
On the whole, Muddy has some appeal but only for the masses. As such, it stands some chance in single-screen cinemas and small centres but business in multiplexes and ‘A’ class centres will be poor.
Released on 10-12-’21 at Sterling (daily 1 show; cancelled on the first day due to lack of audience), Movie Time Goregaon (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay thru Neev Enterprises. Publicity & opening: poor. …….Also released all over. Opening was dull everywhere except in some single-screen cinemas.
