The National Cinema Day, which was scheduled to be held on September 16 (today), has been postponed by a week. It will now be observed on September 23. An announcement to this effect was made by the Multiplex Association of India on September 13. The postponement, the MAI added, was because of requests from various stakeholders and in order to maximise participation.
More than 4,000 participating cinemas — including multiplex chains PVR, Inox, Cinepolis and Carnival as well as many single-screen cinemas — will allow patrons to watch any and every film at a fixed ticket price of Rs. 75 on the National Cinema Day as a token of their appreciation for the public which returned to cinemas in large numbers after the Coronavirus pandemic lockdowns.
