Cinemas in the state of Maharashtra have, with effect from today (February 1), been allowed to conduct their night shows. The state government had in January this year imposed curfew during the night in view of the growing number of Omicron cases. Resultantly, cinemas had to ensure that the last show was completed by 10 p.m. But that condition is no longer effective.
Actually, the state has been divided into two — districts finding mention in Annexure A and those not finding mention therein. For districts (total 11 in number) which fall in Annexure A, there is no limit on show timings. But for the other districts, cinemas will be permitted to conduct even night shows only after explicit permission of the SDMA. Bombay city falls in Annexure A.
The restriction on capacity (50%) and the requirement to observe COVID protocols will remain.
