Union Information & Broadcasting minister Anurag Thakur warned OTT platforms against serving objectionable content such as graphic nudity and dialogues in foul language, by taking advantage of the creative freedom granted to such platforms. “We will not accept if someone crosses the limit,” he said in Nagpur on 19th March.
Thakur said, the government had lately received a number of complaints against digital platforms, and a process was now in place to deal with them. The three-level process begins with the producers themselves resolving the issues. If a complaint still remains unresolved, it goes to the association of OTT platforms. Those that can’t be resolved in the second stage too, land in the ministry. “When it comes before the government, before our department’s committee, strict action is taken,” Thakur added.
