Uma Maheshwari, the youngest daughter of actor, late Telugu Desam Party (TDP) founder and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister, N.T. Rama Rao, was found hanging from the ceiling of the bedroom of her flat at Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad on 1st August. No suicide note was found. The police suspect depression to be the cause of the suicide. She is survived by her husband and two daughters.
Uma was known to be the most reclusive among late NTR’s four daughters. She was earlier married to Narendra Rajan, a businessman from Andhra Pradesh. In December 2021, she got married to K. Sreenivasa Prasad. NTR Jr. is the son of Uma’s brother, Nandamuri Harikrishna, who died in a tragic car accident in 2018. In other words, Uma was NTR Jr.’s paternal aunt.
She had called her house help from her bedroom around 10.30 a.m. that day to enquire about lunch. Around noon, a family member knocked on her door, but got no response. One of her daughters and her son-in-law broke open the bedroom door around half an hour later and found her dead.
Following an autopsy, the family donated her eyes.
