OTT SCAM KEY PLAYER HELD | 18 October, 2022

The Bombay city cyber police, probing the OTT scam, on October 16 arrested the alleged key player of the gang which cheated several Bollywood personalities of lakhs of rupees by promising them to upload their films on OTT platforms and taking large sums of money from them by showing them fake letters of service providers. Vivek Oberoi and producer Gaurang Doshi were among those were cheated by the gang.

The police arrested Sanjay Saha on Sunday from his Andheri West home. He was produced before the holiday court which remanded him to police custody.

Last week, the cyber crime cell of the north region had arrested Rajat Kumar Mourya from his residence at Jogeshwari in Bombay. The 28-year-old Mourya reportedly spilled the beans on Saha, Anup Singh, Akash, Akshay Saluja and Radhika. After the arrest of Mourya, four more victims had approached the police with similar complaints. Fresh FIRs are being filed.

Mourya was arrested based on a complaint by producer Maan Singh who wanted to release two films on an OTT platform. He met Mourya through a common friend, and he introduced him to Saha. Morya showed Maan Singh a letter of intent from Panorama Studios, mentioning its willingness to buy one of Singh’s films for Rs. 4 crore. Two days later, Mourya sent Singh a letter of intent from another company, saying that the OTT platform had agreed to buy two other films. Maan Singh paid Rs. 2.50 lakh in the first instance, and Rs. 1.50 lakh in the second. Saha took Rs. 48 lakh more from Singh on the pretext of paying the officials. In connivance with his aides, Saha also issued fake certificates of OTT agreements for releasing Maan Singh’s films. It is then that Singh’s cameraman alerted him.
