One doesn’t know whether they are the ill-effects of Kangana Ranaut’s recent rants against the Hindi film industry or her past behaviour with director Krish that have started to manifest themselves. Noted cinematographer P.C. Sreeram tweeted yesterday (8th September) that he declined a film because it starred Kangana. His tweet read: “Had to reject a film as it had Kangana Ranaut as the lead. Deep down, I felt uneasy and explained my stand to the makers and they were understanding. Some times, it’s only about what feels right. Wishing them all the best.”
In an industry where nobody says it to the face, not even if the script of a film offered is outright bad, the tweet by Sreeram comes as a surprise. It may have something to do with the recent outbursts of the actress after the demise of Sushant Singh Rajput, in which she has been terribly critical of actors and filmmakers or with the treatment she meted out to Krish, the director of her Manikarnika – The Queen Of Jhansi. It may be mentioned here that mid-way through the film, Kangana had Krish thrown out of the film and she took over its reins and also credited herself as the director.
On her part, Kangana tweeted in reply that she wondered what had made the legendary cinematographer uneasy about her and that it was her loss. P.C. Sreeram has cinematographed films like Pad Man, Cheeni Kum, Paa, Ki & Ka, and Tamil films like Mouna Ragam, Nayakan and Thevar Magan, to name a few.
