‘PANCH KRITI FIVE ELEMENTS’ REVIEW | 25 August, 2023

Ubon Vision Pvt. Ltd.’s Panch Kriti Five Elements (UA) is a film consisting of five different and stand-alone stories — ‘Khopdi’, ‘Parchhayi’, ‘Chapeta’, ‘Amma’ and ‘Suata’ — all set in rural India, but they are also intertwined by a common thread.

Haripriya Bhargav, Sanjoy Bhargav and Kumar Rakesh may have written five different stories but not all of them are interesting. A couple of them are okay. Besides, the thread, which links each of them, makes the screenplay (penned by Ranveer Pratap Singh and Kumar Rakesh) more class-appealing. There is very little entertainment value in the proceedings. Ranveer Pratap Singh’s dialogues are okay.

Performances are ordinary and never rise to the excellent or extraordinary level. Brijendra Kala (as Panditji), Umesh Bajpai (as Moryaji) and Purva Parag (as Kusum) are alright in ”Khopdi’. Sagar Wahi (as Sunny), Sarika Bahroliya (as Rajani) and Ravi Chauhan (as Rajani’s father) have performed reasonably well in ‘Parchhayi’, but none of them stands out. Kurangi Nagraj (as Sakhi), master Parth (as Deepu) and Atharv Upadhaye (as Sonu) are alright in ‘Chapeta’. Mahi Soni (as Mahi), Devyani Chaubey (as Ratna), Ranjana Tiwari (as Mahi’s grandmother), Chandresh Kulshreshtha (as Mahi’s father), Sunny Gupta (as tantrik Ojha) and Khushi Vyas (as Mahi’s mother) perform quite well in ‘Amma’. Ruhana Khanna (as Shubhi), Sajal Upadhaye (as Tanu) and Kumari Isha (as Pihu) deliver ordinary performances in ‘Suata’.

Sanjoy Bhargav’s direction is ordinary. Rajesh Soni’s music and lyrics are functional. Yogendra Tripathi’s camerawork is average. Chandrashekhar Yadav’s art direction is so-so. Sunil Yadav and Arun D. Yadav’s editing leaves something to be desired.

On the whole, Panch Kriti Five Elements is a terribly dull fare which will face rejection at the box-office.

Released on 25-8-’23 at Gossip (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay thru Aum Exhibitors. Publicity & opening: poor. …….Also released all over.
