The Bandra police station officials on November 12 arrested the 42-year-old lawyer, Faizan Khan, from his residence in Raipur with regard to the threat call made from his cell phone for actor Shah Rukh Khan on November 5. The caller had demanded a ransom of Rs. 50 lakh. The phone call was received at the Bandra (Bombay) police station’s landline.
The caller informed constable Santosh Ghodke, “Shah Rukh Khan, the one at Mannat,Bandstand… if he doesn’t give me 50 lakh rupees, I will kill him.” Investigations are continuing.
The lawyer was sent a notice requiring him to present himself at the police station for questioning. His failure to comply led to his arrest. Faizan has been saying that he is innocent as his mobile phone had been stolen around the time the Bandra police station received the call. According to him, the phone could have been used by the thief to make the ransom call. Faizan is being brought to Bombay.
