PRODUCER FILES COMPLAINT AFTER LOSING LAKHS IN OTT SCAM | 10 August, 2023

The Amboli (Bombay) police registered a case under sections of the IPC and the Information Technology Act on August 9 against two men for duping a producer. The persons — Ajay Kanojiya and Abhay Shankar — allegedly posed as employees of an OTT platform and duped Bollywood producer Vijay Mulchandani of Rs. 23 lakh after promising to release his film on the platform.

Mulchandani said, he came in contact with the two persons in 2022. They told him, they were employees of a digital platform. They promised Vijay that they would sell his The Miraj to the OTT platform, and took various amounts of money from him on different dates on the pretext of promoting the digital film on the platform. They told him, the total promotion cost would be Rs. 2 crore. They duped Mulchandani of a total of Rs. 23 lakh.
